Shida/Congo is a handmade leather sandal, often made from rawhide or locally tanned leather. Shida shoes are commonly worn in Eritrea, especially in rural areas and among traditional communities. They are known for their durability and comfort, making them suitable for everyday use and various activities. Freedom fighters wore them and the shoes supported the soldiers' guerrilla warfare. Eritrean soldiers handcrafted them themselves, but they used rubber, which is widely used and also the preferred material for Shida today,
